What I want to know is, who in their right mind would use Seinfeld for a gallery about cult tv shows? A cult following is small, definitely not what I would use to describe the Seinfeld fanbase.

I have actually seen this before somewhere on the internet, so it certainly went viral. I do think the artist got ripped, but the ripoff is not nearly as cool as the original, and they mixed it up so much that it is pretty different.

But they clearly stole the concept, and it does look like they traced a bunch of the items from the original. But not much can be done here except calling out the tshirt company.

First off, I believe the artist is a female. Secondly, it sounds like she said that she created the piece for a gallery show about cult TV shows, so it’s not like she was claiming to have invented Seinfeld. If you bothered to look at her site, you can clearly see she does other things. Thirdly, it sounds like she just wants it to be known that the company took her idea, because that is wrong.

the fact that the ‘rip’ has the official Seinfield logo might also mean they paid for the license to use it over your non paying of licence

you don’t get it homie. these pictures are baby sized so i can’t really tell if the actual drawings of said references are copied. if they are then that is a different story and dude has a right to be upset. but the simple fact that two people made a shirt that have overlapping references to the same source is not a ripoff. you feel me player?

yawn: again, you have no idea about art and art history. Something that’s exactly one’s own is a thing that doesn’t exist. Everything comes from someting. It’s hard to set the balance between inspiration, creative use and ripoff

Clearly a ripoff! Who owns the TV series and how altered the job is is of absolutely no importance. Taking someone’s original idea + copying or retacing his illustrations = ripoff
