Agama Media- interactive advertising agency from Poland used one of photo manipulations made by Ukrainian artist Kassandra for their webdesign.

Kassandra’s original image:

AgamaMedia page:

The Site Loader. They censored orginal image and erased Kassandra name from it.

The Site.  The artwork is in the background.

This is absolutely absurd. I contacted the seller kindly pointing out the extreme level of copyright infringement and of course never heard back. Why do people think they can get away with this?

Here is some fairly shameless plagiarism from Australia. I only know about it because they contacted me saying they love my work and would like me to design them a new logo!

I designed this spread for SummerWinter Magazine, a mag that I am art director of in Australia, it was also up on the SummerWinter website for quite some time. They are a fashion label and they’ve used practically the same design for their logo

www.strummer.com.au

Sure, they’ve changed it from ‘Summer’ to ‘Strummer’ but it’s still basically the same design. I don’t even think it’s a good choice for a logo, I designed it to be almost illegible!

I’m not really that bothered, it’s not my best work and I did it about 4 years ago. I haven’t replied to them yet, what do you guys think I should say? I feel like I should send them an invoice for their first logo along with the quote for the re-brand.

YTWWN SAYS: This is a pretty big call to make, not against artist using photos as reference but if this post is true, that she claims it was her husbands hand? Also to note she is legally blind which often means they can see somewhat but very poorly… really don’t want to beating up on a blind person just because they may have traced one image….

Blind artist Lisa Fittipaldi, claims that she became blind in 1993. She has appeared on Oprah and in publications such as People Magazine promoting her paintings. What caused me to question her story was the fact that a painting that she first made public in 2001 looks identical to a photo taken of Angelina Jolie’s hand that was included in an article about the actress in the December 2000 issue of Premiere Magazine. An image of the painting was included in a profile of Ms. Fittipaldi in the October 15, 2001 issue of People Magazine. I have included scans of images from the articles for your perusal. Please note that when both hand images are placed on top of each other, the outlines match up perfectly. It does not seem possible for this to be a mere coincidence.

Hi,

We’re Merix Studio – webdesign & web development agency from Poland.

We’ve launched a microste called World of Merix not a long time ago. Site itself got pretty popular (featured in quite many CSS Galleries and Web Design blogs). Soon after launch we tracked couple companies who used our concept as well as source code (html/css/javascript). Fortunatetly we managed to have plagiaries removed from the internet but we thought it would be good to keep (and show) samples ;-)

Here we go:

Original

“made in China” (previously available on tun2.com – removed by now)

“made in Italy” (previously available on sicilianweb.it – removed by now)

Good luck with dealing with thieves.

Its a lemon

Found this while browsing some css galleries today. This is so obvious its almost embarrassing:

Catchmail is an email marketing web application for sending out html emails: catchmail. This site has been round for a while and is constantly featured on design inspiration lists.

Lemon squeezy, offer the same service but seemed to REALLY like the design of catchmail lemonsqueezy email

Have a look for yourself:

But wait, there’s more…the guys at lemon squeezy email are so good, they even stolen one of catchmails clients!

And it also seems they named their CSS stylesheet in a bizarre homage to the original catchmail website. Nice touch guys!

I spotted these fliers being handed out near where I work on Belfast, Northern Ireland. A cursory glance showed something was seriously amiss – their badger mascot is a shameless ripoff of Wisconsin’s own Bucky Badger! Yes we might be in the other side of the planet, but we still know who Bucky is.

The copy:

And the Original Bucky:

Artoncrafts on Etsy has apparently hit an identical note with the Mulberry Bayswater/Ledbury designer handbag.

Here’s a current listing. I submitted a report but I really doubt etsy will do anything about this.

Here’s the real version:

Here’s her version:

I’m sure it was a complete accident. Sadly, it seems that two people have actually purchased them. I wonder what other designer rip offs are in her store?

Stealing our words

We are a design agency based in Manchester, UK. We have had all sort of work copied from our portfolio, however after discovering other companies copying our own website copy, I just couldn’t resist posting on here. Its not the first time people have done this to us. In the past we have had to write to them and ask them to take the site down. If they don’t, we proceed with legal action. Its just annoying that designers can be so lazy. Also I cant understand how they can be so stupid, especially with copied words, as it’s really easy to search and find the culprits.

Here is our website:bourn

copycat2

There have been loads of copycats since this series of admittedly simplistic t-shirt designs, created by Alyssa Zukas, first appeared at Urban Outfitters in 2007. Most of the biters were clever enough to change things a bit, but not this time:

http://www.uptowngirl.tv/FrontStore/iGoodsView.phtml?iGoodsId=0026_00309

They even had the nerve to use the original Urban Outfitters product photography, AND Alyssa’s name, all over their site. The original tees have “Alyssa Zukas” and a bio screenprinted into the inner neck tag area, along with Urban’s made-up store brand “Spark in the Dark.” The oh-so-clever counterfeiters actually re-typeset everything, changed the name to “Lovely Kate,” and retained Urban’s “Spark in the Dark” logo in the exact same location. You’d think they were counterfeiting Louis Vuitton bags or something with this level of detail, not Urban t-shirts.

In case the aforementioned link gets altered in any way, here’s a comparison.

Nice of the ripper-offers to give Alyssa credit and all, but this was not an authorized situation, and Urban Outfitters was not granted permission to relicense the design to any third party. Straight up rip-off, through and through.

If you like the designs, support the original designer by buying the designs from her Etsy store
