Images on Flickr may be under CC, but that’s not Flickr’s original purpose, was it? If the promoter or designer was not aware of it, then now they should be made aware.

Could be a misunderstanding. Some people think that all images hosted on Flickr are licensed under Creative Commons. Many images hosted on Flickr are CC licensed. It’s possible that the image came up in a CC image search, and the promoter didn’t look to see if the image was actually CC or not.

Anyway, not excusing the festival promoter’s actions, just highlighting a possibility.

Bah! This interweb tube is without worth. There are brigands about it, no doubt sitting inside the tubules waiting to waylay our precious ideas. You mustn’t ever display your thought-wares to anyone without them first signing an agreement and handing over a handsome deposit of gold to ensure they do not plunder your work. But certainly it is folly to have anything to do with the interwebs, you cannot even get solid gold through the tubes! Humbug!

Tis prudent that everyone should take all their images from the tubes forever. The large sums of profit lost from not having a interweb presence are definitely smaller than the hiring of a lawyer to resolve these issues or other counter measures. You cannot even hire a destitute Irishman to sit inside the tubes leading to your “website” and club to death image bandits!

And I give you this advice as an old washed-up has-been who can’t figure out how to make any money or manage risks associated with being online; and NOT as a fellow creative interested in reducing potential competition by persuading you all to not have an online presence. My heavens no.

Now, get off my lawn!

It’s like the various carry-ons with Facebook and people’s privacy. All of these systems want your content, because it makes them money. There’s big bucks in this. And now, they’re trying to change the copyright law so that everything is fair game. Big mistake people. DON’T put your personal details into Facebook, and DON’T put your work Flickr. This internet sharing is serious BS that will come back and bite you all in the ass. Only natural born thieves will get anything out this.
