Shiroi Neko Must Die

Adding their name to the list of people who steal our graphics and use them as their own is the Japanese brand Shiroi Neko. These bites are more ridiculous than any other company that has ever jacked our shit. Shiroi Neko, we are coming for you.

The original THERESA. REBEL8 Copyright 2006.

The bite Shiroi Neko named, NUN.

The original LAS CHICAS DE REBEL8. REBEL8 Copyright 2007.

The bite Shiroi Neko named, MARIA.

The original COUNT TRACKULA. REBEL8 Copyright 2007.

The bite.

The original flash sheet from the REBEL8 Mike Giant AMERICANA FLASH SET #1.

The stolen art for Shiroi Neko’s CAPTAIN H.

These are other t-shirts I found on their website, that are also from our flash sheets and graphic database.

Shiroi Neko’s company website is shiroineko.com and the only place where I have found it being sold is bluebaldur.com (most likely owned and operated by Shiroi Neko).

“We at Shiroi Neko want sustainable, healthy development for people and the environment. We want to help improve conditions in the garment industry. That’s why we want everyone who works with us to be concerned about human rights, wages, working hours and social accountability.”

    hahahahahahahaha

There’s also a couple of Banksy’s in there too, and i saw Astro Boy, amongst a bunch of other artwork that was most likely ripped, too. Bastards.
Keep us updated. Go get ‘em.

“Shiroi Neko T-shirts are designed in Japan and handmade in Thailand. That’s why they have that truly unique look making them completely different from any other T-shirt in the world.”

Its so tragic its almost funny that they actually rip’d an image of Mike, the artist himself, on the bike!! Long Live Hi-Fi Art Josh!! <—–Ahh the Good times!

  4. on 20 Sep 2008 at 6:09 pm Huds

They sell that brand at some of the markets in Portobello. I read your post this morning and then saw the same designs out and about in London today

  5. on 20 Sep 2008 at 7:05 pm Spyface

There is also a COOP devil graphic. Shameful.

  6. on 20 Sep 2008 at 9:41 pm Enforcer

Wow……….. thats some pretty low down stealing in my eyes…
and they are selling world wide ?

In the shame file for sure…

Go get ‘em Joshy. That’s blatant plagiarism for profit. Hopefully you can recoup all the $ they made off of Mike’s creative. I’ve seen other “bites” you’ve posted in the past that were questionable (and I was glad to see Mike come over the top and explain that there’s a difference between inspiration and plagiarism), but this one is a no brainer. good luck.

  9. on 24 Sep 2008 at 8:45 pm jeff

that’s pretty ridiculous that they’re pulling that – the only thing i’d say though is when you offer vectored art for purchase you’re asking to be ripped off like this – what other reason would there be for buying vectored versions of Mike’s art?

  10. on 24 Sep 2008 at 11:52 pm Joshy D.

    We don’t sell vector artwork.

Geez, and if you actually click onthru to the link to “Contact Us” (“Svensk kontakt”) you get a pop-up window with the following message:

“Usage of images from this web site is prohibited without a written permission from shiroineko.com”

Can you believe that? They should be sued out of existence.

—and this, too, from their own site.

  15. on 02 Oct 2008 at 8:27 pm GSUS

Guys, i was just browsing this evening looking for cool T’s to buy and i stumbled across the blue baldur website.

Done a quick google on Shiroi Neko as i’d never heard of them before and i found this post here…………and i’m glad i did!!!

Dude i was thinking of part with some money for some of these T’s, although i was nervious about buying from Thailand i thought i might go for it.

Now that i’ve read this, screw them guys……..ripping off talented artist and stealing creativity like that sucks!

Sorry Shiroi Neko you won’t be getting my cash!

    got to live pirates!

    fuckers gogogogogogogo NEKO

    Wohaaa

  21. on 26 Oct 2008 at 3:40 pm spatch

this is great..they got called out,and said fuck it,lets copy everything the others do..i love it…can you see their middle fingers as they outsell you on your own designs? can you?

    dont be bitter,be better.

  22. on 27 Oct 2008 at 8:54 am Johnny Nash

I agree with you spatch, hurrah for piracy, long live socialism.

  23. on 30 Oct 2008 at 6:08 am GSUS

    Ha Ha,

    The pirate lovers !!!

Personally i don’t really give a huge sh@t, if you know your stuff then you can spot a crap copy a mile off :-)

I just feel sorry for the guys who get ripped off in the whole process……….it’s easy to love the pirates when they don’t effect your own professional life, i’m sure if your hard work was being ripped off and you were losing money you’d have something to say about it!

  24. on 30 Oct 2008 at 6:31 am dottedfish

Uhm, excuse me but actually piracy is the art of theft but not the art of selling theft or (not in this case but let me mention) the art of selling theft that was already stolen somewhere else.

Think of thepiratebay torrents setting up the site as a place to sell the stolen files and pretending they made them and are the original owners and producers! That is NOT piracy right there – it’s just criminal.

Damn all those fake pirates and even more damn those criminals for ripping designs like that.

  25. on 03 Nov 2008 at 10:12 pm Austin

If designer t-shirts weren’t so overpriced maybe piracy of their designs wouldn’t be such a huge issue. If you pay over 30 dollars for a t-shirt, you are being cheated by the brand, I’m sorry, but if you are christian audigier, rebel 8, or whomever else, you have no one else to blame but yourself! People would gladly pay for a 25-30 dollar shirt than a pirated 8 dollar t-shirt. The highly unjustified price of these shirts are what is driving the piracy market.

  26. on 06 Nov 2008 at 7:40 pm LW

No offence guys but their versions of your designs actually cool, I was thinking of buying one. Not only that but they’ve changed and added to the designs and not just completely copied the entire t-shirt. Just feel proud that someone liked your art so much that they are mass producing it…unless you’re just in it for the money!!! And perhaps price your t-shirts more reasonably.

  27. on 07 Nov 2008 at 2:43 pm not a millionare

agree with LW.. designs look good and theyre over 50% cheaper then ed hardy which in my opinion is a total rip off and a scam

  28. on 07 Nov 2008 at 5:03 pm LW

Ed Hardy drives me mad, like Shiroi Neko most of his designs are just stolen. Mainly from Sailor Jerry tattoo flash. However he charges 5x more than Shiroi Neko.

  29. on 07 Nov 2008 at 9:44 pm JOHN

yes some of their stuff is copied but alot of it is just another version of someone elses work – just like 90 % of tattoo artists.i mean who envented the pin up ?
i´ve seen thousands of very similar pin ups all drawn by thousands of different artists.who´s complaining about that !

  30. on 12 Nov 2008 at 1:42 pm LW

There is nothing wrong with taking inspiration from someone elses work. Why not re-use an image as long as you’re adding something or altering it slightly.

Look at all the Che Guevara t-shirts out there… Alberto Korda’s photo has been used a million times, is that wrong? He never made money from all the people who used his image.

Fashion would not exist if nobody copied, took inspiration, or replicated designs. Rebel8’s images ain’t exactly original, I’m sure if you looked hard enough you could find similar designs elsewhere. And if you don’t want people to steel your designs, don’t overprice your t-shirts.

  31. on 18 Nov 2008 at 9:01 pm Emi

In the words of Weird Al Yankovic…

“I’LL SUE YA. I’LL TAKE ALL OF YO MONEY, I’LL SUE YA IF YOU EVEN LOOK AT ME FUNNY.”

I feel you should use these words.

Jerks like this shouldn’t get away with it.

  32. on 24 Nov 2008 at 1:39 am steve hodge

Yea these pricks have ripped off the artwork of my friend the late Martin Emond..Fuckin cunts

  33. on 03 Dec 2008 at 12:54 pm superhero

Rebel8? Must be a small unknown company hm? My friends and i never heard this name before.

Btw: The shirts from Shiroi Neko are looking much better and don’t have that fuckin’ anti-muscle-fit like the Rebel8 ones.

  34. on 04 Dec 2008 at 11:43 am jimbo

tshirts look awesome, just get over it u sad fu*ks

  35. on 08 Dec 2008 at 8:22 pm tim

Shiroi Neko are just making you look bad! their t’s are better than yours. they took what you did and made it look 10x better.

  36. on 08 Dec 2008 at 9:11 pm fingerprintexpert

It looks as some people who are posting here work for/are Shiroi Neko. Like the three peeps above me?!

LW, you seem confused. It is cool if Shiroi Neko copies from Rebel 8 and then it’s not cool if Ed hardy copies from Sailor Jerry?
Or is it you are more worried about parting with money? You don’t have to buy a designers shirt, you can just get one at the wallmart. No one is holding a gun to your head.

If you don’t make art or designs it is probably very hard to imagine how much time is involved in creating it and making a living with it. The change of the owner of Shiroi Neko making a lot more bucks than the designer of Rebel 8 is huge. He doesn’t have to pay for a good solid american designer, just some thai copy & paste guys.

  37. on 09 Dec 2008 at 9:54 pm john

    wankers these people

    dont buy from them !!!

  38. on 10 Dec 2008 at 6:40 pm idiot8

“He doesn’t have to pay for a good solid american designer, just some thai copy & paste guys.”

But the c&p-guys make much better shirts of it :)

  39. on 10 Dec 2008 at 6:40 pm idiot8

    btw:

    “good solid american designer”

    = nothing special

  40. on 11 Dec 2008 at 3:13 am myoubi

Shiroi Neko trolls are annoying and inconsistent.

you think something is overpriced? don’t buy it. Using someone else’s work without permission is theft, and inexcusable. Doesn’t matter how nice your shirts look (and IMO they’re so much tackier than the original designs). It just demonstrates your own pallid lack of creativity.

  41. on 12 Dec 2008 at 11:31 am jonos

thief!!! but in a postmodern context probably just.
what bugs me is this nazi-shit:

  42. on 13 Dec 2008 at 10:34 pm swedish millionaire

rebel8 is this famous designer for gay fashion or not?

    @jonos:

i like the shirt. and nazis too.

  43. on 19 Dec 2008 at 8:03 am 8ball

The Rebel8 t-shirts are way bland compared to the outrageously funky range from Shiroi Neko. Ok so the prints are nothing new, but the layout and style of the t-shirts are better than anything I’ve seen similar. I hope to see more clothing like the shiroi neko style and not just t-shirts.

  44. on 23 Dec 2008 at 11:36 pm dopethrone

    its just a fuckn t-shirt!!
wake the fuck up, ed hardys clothes is expensive, and but ugly too!! everything that artist can do is is yellyfishes and skull/dagger– what the fuck if shirio neko copy some old
pinup/rockn roll picture and redo it to some
    sleazy punk hellbilly style,
fine by me!! i never bought a tshirt from rebel8 couse their shirts looks to clean, its no swag or drag there, and ed hardy shirts looks like a barbiedoll tattoo you find on every malibu girl. anyway im not gonna by a shirio neko shirt
couse i dont like it that much, even if its a kickass
Captain H shirt i see on the picture above.
good luck with this brawl, it wont lead anywhere from no sides.

  45. on 01 Jan 2009 at 9:22 am Hed Ardy

I think I’d be pissed if my artwork was stolen and mass produced…but, I have just perused their site and I don’t think you guys have too much to worry about. This ‘White Cat’ brand is aiming at a different market than the Rebel 8 guys…one is aimed at idiots with too much money and no style and the other is just a rip off.

Show some real style…make your own T-Shirts and fuck Sailor Jerry, Ed Hardy, Rebel 8, Shiroi Neko and all the other bastards who want to take your money for some re-hashed crap. How anyone can lay claim to an image of the fucking Virgin Mary is evidence of their intentions ($)

Confuse everyone and get a tattoo of a t-shirt.

  46. on 08 Jan 2009 at 10:01 am Dummkopf

Yay for Shiroi Neko, such preety designs though i dislike my soce teacher hitting on me when i wear them.

  47. on 09 Jan 2009 at 5:05 am aaron

so there taken ur designs an makin em better? u mad lol

  48. on 10 Jan 2009 at 6:40 pm ron moss

Sure Neko steals, and you are too. Or are you saying that you have never downloaded music, movie, games etc. from internet? Don’t be two-faced

  49. on 12 Jan 2009 at 8:40 pm johnny

if you need Shiroi neko shirts
    let me know.
Personally, i think this is the best shirts with reasonable price on the market now.

  50. on 12 Jan 2009 at 10:19 pm Anonymous

anyone in support of shiroi neko or ed hardy is a complete fool…their designs are weak and just bites off of real tatoo culture. at least rebel8 is original and the founder mike giant has some backround to support his designs.and like if it was said before dont buy the orginal if u think it cost too much. but dont be mad when u get hated on because u buy a ridiculous looking rip off..

  51. on 13 Jan 2009 at 7:57 pm daniel

Rebel 8 sucks… all motives from them are looking gay!

  52. on 14 Jan 2009 at 2:45 pm Alex

Ed Hardy is NOT a Christian Audigier rip off… They work together.
Ed is a Tattoo artist, Christian is the designer. What’s wrong with that?

    http://www.donedhardy.com/about_us.html

  53. on 16 Jan 2009 at 1:26 pm Bandit

Holy snapcrackers, a lot of people are trolling for Shiroi Neko.
Go make your own damn designs and stick ‘em on plain white shirts if you think regular tees cost so much.

  54. on 17 Jan 2009 at 11:20 pm Anonymous

its funny how people actually buy an ed hardy shirt for 80 bucks…ahahah or spend 50 on the shiroi neko rip off ahahah..

  55. on 22 Jan 2009 at 4:09 pm Zolodoco

I’ve been seeing Shiroi Neko adds on Radioio.com, so I did a quick search thinking they might be jpop or something and found this site. I think it’s disgusting that they’re ripping graphics, so good luck putting the screws on their sales.

  56. on 24 Jan 2009 at 1:03 am sg

the shiroi neko shirts look a lot better at least…sure he rips things off, but there are tons of examples above of ripoff art. the current rebel8 shirts look like shit to me, personally. like the guy says on his shirts “my class is no class”, you either like it or you don’t and everyone knows that consumers vote with their dollars. Either way, i’m not buying any of this high priced shit.

  57. on 24 Jan 2009 at 5:47 pm ablene

I think the shiroineko design looks shit!
What is original when you talk about tattoo flash. everything is inspired by something.
    I found this site
    http://www.hottrendy.com
they offer at reasonable price which is $20 per shirt so they must be made by underpaid children

  58. on 03 Feb 2009 at 11:42 am mike

shut up! shiroi neko uses motives from clipart collections like rebel8 do it to. so there can be double motives!

  59. on 05 Feb 2009 at 3:41 pm seba

Wow that shiroi neko is ugly :) how these guys can take nice design and turn it into crap like that is an artform in itself :)
sry to hear they stole your stuff … But I guess this happens all the time. The Chinese economy is built around a real copying (sub) economy … These guys even produce fake egss (I am not sh***ing you as saw a documentary about this

  61. on 07 Feb 2009 at 6:09 pm henry

Shiroi Neko don’t rip motives, they buy it legally from designers like other companys like R8 do it too!

Does anybody know how’s the real desiger of the sailor girl motive:

    http://www.shiroineko.com/models/class222.html

Somebody told me it’s from an designer from the U.S.

    Thanks!

    where’s their flagship store????????????
are they sold in store’s across the globe???????????????
what makes them so expensive if they are not sold in store’s??????????????????????

  63. on 09 Feb 2009 at 8:45 am DaveW

Just brought a Neko shirt…. wish I’d seen this page first. :o (
They are also being sold here in NZ at this website:
    http://ipop.co.nz/categories/T%252dshirts/Shiroi-Neko-T-shirts/

Advertised as designed and hand made in Japan….. but the shiroi neko website I now see say’s made in Thailand?

  64. on 13 Feb 2009 at 1:15 am Lars

LW – regarding Ed Hardy ripping of Sailor Jerry it’s not true, because Ed Hardy OWNS the legal rights to all Sailor Jerry art. Just look it up.

Sure, Ed Hardy makes some butt-ugly clothing but that’s not illegal just yet (I hope soon though) :)

  65. on 13 Feb 2009 at 1:22 am Lars

  66. on 18 Feb 2009 at 5:54 am fawn

CHEAP PRICES =/= RIGHT TO STEAL
If they were just as cheap, would you be such assholes? Seriously. Artists gotta eat too, and the fewer made at a time the higher the production costs.

It’s cheaper to buy stolen televisions, therefore it’s totally justified when I buy stolen property, right?

Intellectual property IS PROPERTY kk? These are blatant rips and you should definately sic a lawyer or two on them.

Besides, their “designs” are junky and overcrowded. Ick. Spend a little extra cash for the good shit, like Theresa.

  67. [...] and man they love to bite Rebel 8 [...]

  68. on 03 Mar 2009 at 3:43 am chris

hahah you guys are stupid, art is about taking and sharing ideas..look at every design..they all are different, the ed hardy one, it is supposed to look alike, and same with the nun, its creative, they changed what was your art and made it their own, its all fair game, and personally they made it better

  69. on 09 Mar 2009 at 2:01 pm Jan

    It’s like sampling music.
Either you are ok with or your not.
If anyone here listens to hip hop or electronic
you are probably ok with it.

  70. on 13 Mar 2009 at 1:03 pm john

you guys are idiots how do you think the fashion world all looks the same, everyone takes inspiration from other designers.

Shiroi Neko are great t shirts with incrdible use of fabrics.

get a life and learn about how the business works before you slag a brand off.

  71. on 17 Mar 2009 at 4:57 pm matt darling

shit there;s a lot of ignorance on this blog.

1-stealing art is disrespectful regardless of the manipulation of fair use. profits are being made by cutting and pasting other peoples work. its not inspiration its plagiarism. its not like sampling because you have to get the rights in order to sell something with samples in it.

2- i find it interesting that the people who are in favor of this company like to make the comparison the ed hardy line because there is a number of similarities, namely reappropriating images with a strong subcultural meaning for a demographic that has nothing to do with said subculture. ed hardy was a shitty tattoo artist that worked for sailor jerry until (according to sailor jerrys book) he was fired for his lack of respect for the artform and its meaning- and the people who wear that shit have little to no knowledge of the meaning behind the art or wear it comes from nor do they seem to care or want to. so both companies clearly cater to the same demographic of ignorant disrespectful cultureless fashionistas.they already destroyed von dutch….how many douchebags wearing von dutch hats even knew or cared who he was….. so here’s to taking beautiful meaningful art, sucking the context and meaning out of it and providing it for brainless mass consumption!

  72. on 20 Mar 2009 at 4:29 pm Tanner Kay

“The Rebel8 t-shirts are way bland compared to the outrageously funky range from Shiroi Neko”

Wow, a sales pitch, way to not look like the culprit there, hell why not provide an animated background and splashes such as *cheap!* and *groovy!* and “only for the LOW LOW price of $9.99 -yes- thats $9.99!”

Seriously, whether you ARE this Neko guy, or just plainly ignorant, this sucks, no matter how you try to sugarcoat it.

But I’m sure of you or one of your family members get cleaned out by burglars the next day, I’m sure you’ll put your hands together and go…
“Oh well, they’re just people like us, they need to eat and feed their drug habit. Also, I’m sure they’ll sell my stuff a lot cheaper then what I originally purchased it at so they MUST be good people, its all good!”

Oh, and before any of you try to plug the “House burglary isn’t the same as whats happening here lolol” argument on me the ethics are pretty much the same, only on a far more anonymous and “risk-free” level. Artists need to eat too, and when they create something original they alone deserve to set the price for it, not you punks.
Seriously, you guys must LOVE Fairey.

  73. on 24 Mar 2009 at 5:21 pm Shiroi Neko - What’s the deal?

Google search “shiroi neko” while logged in to a Google account, promote this YTWWN link to the top.

If there is one thing I hate to see it’s paid shills acting as trolls – this thread is rife with them, and it sucks. If you need to pay people of have obviously biased commentators not declaring their affiliations then something is wrong. If you can’t rely on good word of mouth then you should change your business strategy.

    Urgh.

First off….These shirts are unbelievably TACKY..TERRIBLE design and layout, perfectly suited for douchebags with zero style and even less confidence (hence having to rely on the fact that they paid 15 times more for their shirt than the average normal person).

Here is my suggestion: Simply reproduce some of their top selling disgusting prints and make them available as a FREE download from this site to do what you want with. With a decent ink jet and some higer quality iron-on transer paper you can pretty much obtain the same look, even if that look is an ugly joke.

Another hint is to simply bring a digital camera into a retail store and snap 2 shots of the shirt laying flat. One front, one back, import to Photoshop, clean it up and you’re good to go.

Shiroi Neko has also ripped the logo of Dolores Promesas, a Spanish clothing brand.

Dolores Promesas tee with the brand logo:

I love the Shiroi Neko T-shirts. You should be happy that somebody loves your art, and shows it to the world. When you get a new tee with some fantastic art on it, you will probebly do some research on who did the art. And then they will find you. So you are getting more popular for each day.
By the way, you should do the stuff you have to do to make an agentur on your art, if you don’t want anyone to use it.
    They are makeing you big:O

I bought a Shiroi Neko t-shirt from ipop.co.nz and i am real pleased with the quality. The website only comments that t-shirts are designed in Japan not made there – so DaveW you got it wrong. Ed Hardy & Christian Audigier t-shirts are probably made in China and the are completely over priced at $150+ USD!! Produced in China for under $3 USD and sold to you for $150! Now, that’s a rip off!

I dont care where the t-shirt is made just as long as the quality and price is good and I like the design. I bought Class 222 in aged black from ipop for $19 USD and it’s been washed many times and still looks great. It really is fantastic value.

These days every designer is getting there ideas from somewhere and who to say that Shiroi Neko wasn’t ripped off by Ed Hardy and his bf Christian Audigier?

    check this link; http://ipop.co.nz/categories/T%252dshirts/Shiroi-Neko-T%252dshirts/

Wow, I was going to buy one of Neko’s shirts then I saw this site. But gutted now because I really liked his shirts.

One question, does anyone know the original to this shirt?

    hi.

    iam web also tshirt designer.

sometime i buy stock art vector for composed graphics.
so when i look shiroineko “i love it!”
and i find other tees and i said ” FUCK they rip fuck ripped everyone art!! shit fuck”

i dont understand much because at the first shiroi authorized to mix others designer art. but wat daaa fuck they almost ripped 80%
but the things i love from them is the composition and manipulation also the finising!! they like hell awesome! can you imagine. they dig more on the finishing [ handmade ] the ink composition the wash of tees!! and the graphics placement and recolor all great! some inspired me.

so shame if them just rip-rip

    maybe just some input:

the designers must collaborate and share profit if used for commercial . maybe shiroi neko doesnt have good skill on illustration and dont know to buy or to negotiate or donthave money for the illustration stock. but they have great skills for finishing and compositions .

    so just make everyone comfort!

    i love art and design!
    so lets do it.

ps: for the great illustrators must dig more for finishing or collaborate with designer to make complex-hellyeah result and walaaahhh lets enjoy this life..

    gud luck guyss..

  85. on 15 May 2009 at 1:04 am Westline

Ed Hardy/ Christian Audigier is the same rip off artist except he charges far more maoney for his t-shirts, but you point the finger at Shiroi Neko? Are you working for Ed Hardy so no-one eats into the over inflated market hes created. Shame on you. They are all rippoffs.. show me some originals!

  86. on 04 Jun 2009 at 3:59 pm dref

I can’t believe that people are defending Shiroi Neko. They stole original art from Rebel 8 and Mike Giant. There is no way around it. Shit is whack. I wouldn’t be caught dead in it. All they did was doll up Rebel 8’s designs to look like some rip-off Ed Hardy gear.

  87. on 10 Jun 2009 at 4:48 pm Scottee

I own a few Shiroi Neko tshirts and find the quality to be great, and no before you flame me and call me a cheapskate I also own pieces by Ed hardy & Christian Audigier, aswell as some lovely Key Closet shirts that cost me major £££. All I have to say is if it looks nice ill wear it regardless of the price, brand or ethical background, they are tshirts at the end of the day, get over it!

Shiroi nEKO ALSO RIPPED OFF ART FROM OUR lABEL iLLICIT..fUCK THOSE MOTHERFUCKAS..i SPIT ON THEM

  89. on 15 Jun 2009 at 2:18 pm SlyGuy

Ya they copied but the Neko designs look so much better than the “originals” SHIROI NEKO RULES!!!!!

  90. on 23 Jun 2009 at 9:40 am FADS

The Shirol Neko clones need to learn how to speak english before they try to defend a fraud in english on an english speaking site that DEFAMES FRAUDS

  91. on 28 Jun 2009 at 6:45 am Threads of Fate

I honestly thought many of the designs are pretty cool. I am a buyer and have an eye for what sells. yes some are over the top and crappy but it doesn’t change the act MANY are put together well. WHAT TOTALLY SUCKS IS THAT THEY STOLE ART-they need to pay. My lady is a designer and artist get the raw deal way too much nowadays

  92. on 03 Jul 2009 at 8:33 pm LW

I’m not really sure why you assume people defending Shiroi Neko work for them? I doubt they actually bother to google search their own company, then read your blog and post on it…Some people just disagree with your opinion. Ok so it sucks when someone steels your artwork…I am an artist, I even owne my own T-Shirt company…it’s the reason I found your blog in the 1st place, I was researching designs to look for inspiration. However I don’t just cut an paste mine like Shiroi Neko do! I think their T-Shirts are more impressive than the Rebel8 shirts that I’ve seen. When most people buy a T-Shirt they couldn’t give a sh*t who designed it…I bet half the people who have slagged off Shiroi Neko on this blog would have picked a Shiroi Neko T-Shirt over a Rebel8 T-Shirt if they didn’t know about this blog…Also who’s to say you didn’t rip them off, I’m sure you didn’t but you provided no proof…Someone does make a good point about the Virgin Mary image…effectively that is not your own image, you’ve appropriated it. The only reason I could see for starting this blog is because you’re all about the $$$$!

  93. on 04 Jul 2009 at 7:44 am peter

Ive got a few neko’s as well as hardy’s and tbh they are both as good as each other. i was worried when i bought my first neko about the quality in the wash but ive had them for some time now and the quality is fantastic, colour hasnt faded one bit. also i like some of their designs, ok they are rip offs but they are good rip offs, ive got no probs with good design, i mean i get sick of the sailor jerry art that hardys has and dont get me started on affliction.. but neko’s are cool..

plus some people here esp the americans need to take a chill pill its a fuckn t shirt.. no wonder the whole world thinks youre all dicks!!

  94. on 08 Jul 2009 at 11:14 pm peter

    disregard that, i suck cocks.

  95. on 09 Jul 2009 at 10:59 pm peter

^^^ wow just shows how supid some americans are!!! yeah ok mate why dont you keep sucking cock yourself!!

  96. on 13 Jul 2009 at 4:43 am Dum Nigga

ok first of all peter stfu no one likes europeans they have small cock and speak english like they have a cock in there throat.

The reason why fucking neko shirts are cheap like $7 is CAUSE ITS QUALITY IS SHIT!? it would probably be shit after u wash it the first time. Reason why ed hardy is more expensive is cause there quality of the cloths are good. not that cheap shit neko

everyones to stupid to realize that neko company probably uses bangkok child slaves to make the clothes and the swedens get all the money from what the company makes.

  97. on 13 Jul 2009 at 10:24 am peter

ok dum nigga, first of read my post carefully you thick cunt! I own both neko and hardy tees. Secondly are you joking when you say no one likes europeans? please this just goes to show how thick you americans are!! everyone hates the USA!!

Also mate dont preach to me about speaking english when you can not even write english properly! Wow you guys are really thick arent you!!

  98. on 17 Jul 2009 at 1:00 pm wtf

What is the point in stressing over the t-shirts?

all I can say to DUM NIGA is THANKS!!! after u wrote the price, I checked it online and found Shiroi Neko shirts at $7 from http://www.urbanstreetwear.co.cc and man, the t-shirts are a steal. OK a lot of the styles use the same images, but damn… the quality is identical. You guys can keep ripping the brand and man, yeh its annoying that they rip off some t-shirts coz i sell them in a shop with Christian and Ed Hardy, but the quality is just as good, they dont shrink and damn its a t-shirt.

People want a cheap alternative and how many of u have an mp3 player that aint an apple ipod??? u aint moanin about that. same stuff different name. same as these.

this brand can keep ripping off whatever, coz there will always be a market for it as regular folks cant be affordin the real deal.

$7 a pop and I get rid of them all day at $35 it makes me happy and it makes the peeps who put it on their backs happy..

    Peace

I think Shiroi neko are great , There shirts are paying for me to Live in a tropical paradise. Rebel 8 how many shirts did you sell this month ? I know how many Shiroi Neko did and i’m only guessing but i bet it was a few more than you guys
    Long live the pirates

  101. on 23 Jul 2009 at 9:53 am Vicarious

Have Rebel 8 and/or the artists concerned actually contacted Shiroi Neko to discuss matters, or are they just sitting with their heads up their asses moaning about it? Maybe they should get off their asses and do something before the chastising/defence of Shiroi Neko. If they really are that desperate to get an income and “feed their families”, maybe they should act rather than whine like babies?

  102. on 28 Jul 2009 at 10:30 pm john

Shiroi Neko is pathetic. All they do is copy Ed Hardy.
It is sold on market stools and at boots sales all over the world for about £10. That shows you how good it is.

  103. on 28 Jul 2009 at 10:32 pm simon

there is a reason why they are so cheap.

    because they are s???t

  110. on 10 Aug 2009 at 6:12 am Dave

I don’t see what all this fuss is about! Not everyone can afford the prices of the ed hardy t-shirts. Shiro Neko provides ‘average Joe’ the chance to chance to own and wear a t-shirt of similar style and quality at the fraction of the price!

I stock Shiro Neko and a few other Thai brands in my shop and they fly out. The majority of people don’t care about a brands ethics or background they just want a well made affordable t-shirt that looks good!!

There are plenty of Thai manufacturers now like shiroi neko who are producing t-shirts which in terms of quality and style are very close to the likes of Ed hardy. The majority of the t-shirts and jeans i sell in my store I purchase direct from the factory using http://www.baiyokefactory.com I hope Shiori neko and the other brands continue to produce then we can all look good with out breaking the bank!

  111. on 11 Aug 2009 at 7:34 pm neko_4life

ed hardy designs look gay and are shitty, They look like a benders tattoo. the colours are to bright and the type of people that wear ed hardy are try hard loosers. Neko is not much better but at least is not as gay

  113. on 19 Aug 2009 at 9:05 am poomouth

I saw this blog an laughed my ass off…you guys are fucking idiots! If someone is ripping you off then go an do something about it rather than bitch to 13 yr olds who bum fuck you. By the way, most people think Americans are pricks. Especially when they say the English can’t speak English properly…we fuckin invented it…it’s you that raped it!

This entire thread has made me head desk many times. And I’m a bit late in the game, but bear with me.

First things first, obvious trolls are obvious. This company is so pathetic they have people trolling when they get called out on shit.

Now from how I see it, it’s art theft. Whoever is “creating” Shiroi Neko’s designs is just changing little bits of the original and then slapping more tacky shit design.

And for the records, of course designer t-shirts are expensive, retards. You’re paying for brand name, not for the shirt.

I personally find all the designs ugly, but justifying buying Shiroi Neko’s because it’s 7 dollars compared to 70 is bull. :/ Especially after having the truth pointed out to you. That’s when a boycott is in order, not bitching and moaning about it.

I sincerely hope that Rebel 8 and anyone else who is being ripped off by this company will file suit.

  118. on 18 Sep 2009 at 1:20 am Marky

I like em a lot. Great quality and reasonable prise. …and they look better than the origins.

  119. on 19 Sep 2009 at 4:16 pm Lady Chen

    HI,

Shiroi neko REally going to die.

I know that Shiroi neko really copy the design from many brands and many pictures they took or buy from internet. And Shiroi Neko is Made in thailand 100% The real owner who born Shiroi Neko is Thai couple, nothing about Japanese design.

The Shiroi Neko going to die becuase Mr.Bo Rubin (bluebaldur) have registered copyright in Sweden , UK , Australia , USA , EU without asking anything from Thai couple.

And now Mr. Bo rubin want to be the only one who sell Shiroi Neko.He make trouble with everybody who sell shiroi neko now in this time.

Poor that Thai couple now they have a lots of problem from customers FOR SURE !!!!

  120. on 19 Sep 2009 at 9:46 pm Juan Gustavo

I was introduced to this brand from a website http://www.baiyokefactory.com and the quality is fantastic. I bought 500pcs and my customers loved them. I don’t know why people want to make this site, because we are getting great quality and not all the styles are the same. good luck to the thai designers making this brand.

  121. on 24 Sep 2009 at 12:10 am Charles

Yeah, fantastic… I suppose the people who wear these shirts also keep in their pocket an MP3 player that looks kind of like an iPod but is not, and wear K-Mart shoes that when you squint might be confused for Chuck Taylor’s and go home to a Palsonic TV that you hope people mistake for Panasonic. I can picture it all perfectly… In your wardrobe I see a lot of ‘distressed’ jeans and shirts with ‘45′ and ‘17′ imprinted on the backs, with ‘graffiti’ graphics plasted all about, bought over several exciting days from your local Wal-Mart.

This is really just crazy – Shiroi Neko is the sort of shitty knockoff brand your mom would buy you in grade school. If you read this thread and still buy Shiroi Neko you’re a dickhole, plain and simple.

  122. on 24 Sep 2009 at 1:10 pm ap

    Hi there,
I’m going to Bangkok maybe next week (Sep29.2009),could anyone tell me where I can find shiroi Neko T-shirts wholesaler in Bangkok, please feel free to drop me an info about that at ap_calipto@yahoo.com,Tq

  123. on 25 Sep 2009 at 8:49 am J. Cullen

It is scary how so many people leaving comments here are willing to turn a blind eye to this…Yes, those t-shirts are nice and cheap but do the original artists see any of the profits? Hell no! I’m effin’ outraged that people even have the gall to ask where they can buy these t-shirts! Then again, not entirely surprising…

To those dolts who are asking why there is a big fuss being made over this, try and put yourself in the original artist’s shoes. Imagine spending long hours putting your blood and sweat into a quality piece only to then find out that some cheap hacks elsewhere are making a pretty dime off of your hard work. That is money being taken away from seriously talented people and it is *not* right.

Those of you that are willing to buy these t-shirts with the full knowledge that the art has been stolen are supporting such underhanded tactics within the clothing industry. Unfortunately, I doubt those types care one bit.

  124. on 25 Sep 2009 at 1:16 pm Fuckoff.

Shiroi Neko has the coolest designs i’ve ever seen
your comparisons of the original and shiroi’s designs make me laugh.
they are so blatantly better, where one has some shitty picture printed on a white shirt, whereas shiroi actually puts some thought and complexity in their shirts.
not to mention you can grab them for $20

their shirts are amazing. so leave them the fuck alone.

    You kids,

    One question!
    WHY.
    DO.
    YOU.
    CARE.
Stop complaining about label, and design theft!
    IT DOESNT MATTER.
What this tells me is that you care faaaar to much about labels.
It also tells me that your COMPLETELY missing the point of a TRUE artist.
A real artist doesnt care if someones using their design, Its ART, its suppose to reach people, and make them think!!!
    ITS NOT ABOUT MONEY!!!
And if it was! WHY, i repeat WHY, does it concern you?
Its the artists issue to chase it up, if they DONT, then they obviously do not care, so WHY should you?
Oh I see, because your concerned about label.
Perhaps youll seem less original because everyone can afford it now!!!! OH NOOOOO!
    YOU. ARE. NOT. ORIGINAL!

    Heres a comparison test.

    Two shirts.
    Both Made of 100% Cotton.
Both printed on the exact same brand of printing machine.
    Differences:
Ones a “brand name” and costs 200 Dollars
The others not and costs 20 Dollars

Which One do you buy? Brand Name, Non Brand Name

This is a two-three word answer, nothing more

Your answer (or argument) defines your intelligence

    By MIKE GIANT
I’ve been writing “Giant” for 20 years now, and yesterday was the first time I painted a box truck with permission of the owner. After all these years of painting trucks like this in the dark, it sure was great to be able to take my time and hook one up without hassle in broad daylight. I feel like I’m cashing in some dues I paid over the years. It’s rad.”

Looks like Mike Giant hasn’t respected other people’s property rights for the last 20 years, now someone isn’t respecting his.

It’s funny how long this post is now. I agree with the post above. Mike Giant is a total fucking hypocrite. The guy has been a graffiti ‘artist’ for years painting over other people’s property. In other words defacing or vandalising something belonging to someone else, a bit like what Shiroi Neko is doing to his art work. This seems like what goes around comes around.

  142. on 11 Dec 2009 at 2:09 pm Air Conditoner

Well regardless, they should willingly be paying you for your art, but at least be flattered that they chose you to steal from!

  143. on 13 Dec 2009 at 6:18 am Emily

I agree that the designs are very similar. But I don’t think you’ll get very far in raising the issue with the creators of Shiroi Neko. Companies in Asia are notorious for finding loopholes in the law, and although it is very sneaky, most of the time it proves to be very successful for their businesses. The creators of Shiroi Neko haven’t copied your exact design, they’ve taken it and made small alterations in order to make it their own. This is called appropriation, and this is legal. Had they copied an image straight out, without changing it at all, then you’d have a serious case on your hands. But unfortunately for you, I can understand why you’re annoyed, it is extremely sneaky, but you probably won’t get very far with them.

  151. on 13 Feb 2010 at 5:35 pm Bobby Bob Bob

Check out the Captain H design by Rebel8 (Apparently) at the top of this blog then check out this Sailor Jerry design.

    http://www.sailorjerry.com/shop/men-s/classic-tees/skull-dice-men-s-tee-7090.html

    Wonder which one came 1st?

Then consider who actually gives a shit!

Plus Rebel8 clothing is seriously boring…not that sheroi neko is much better.

  152. on 05 Mar 2010 at 11:58 pm Mic

To all those saying stuff like “Don’t act like you’ve never stolen music/movies off the internet”– that is NOT the same as taking someone else’s art and then claiming you created it, which is basically what Sheroi Neko and company are doing.
Sure, we’ve all downloaded a song or two illegally, but do we try to say we created the song? Uh, no. And that is what makes us different from petty art thieves.

More on topic, I’ve never payed more than 20 bucks for a shirt and never will. I’d rather make my own damn shirts than pay for some crap my little sister could put together with some glue and shiny fabric.

  153. on 22 Mar 2010 at 6:23 am dieter brummer

My brother said to me the other day “isn’t it funny how the internet eats things then shits them out, then eats the shit and then shits that out again?” I dunno, i didn’t think it was funny. Maybe I don’t have that sort of sense of humour.

  154. on 28 Mar 2010 at 4:45 am fuk shiroi nelko#1

yooooooooo shiroi neko sucks, i got a shiroi neko shirt on ebay, it smells like ass when i got it then when i washed it it pretty much fel apart, i baught a REBEL8 shirt shortly after, much btter quality and design, smells better also!! rebel8 !!!!!!!!!!

    –LOTM said:–
It also tells me that your COMPLETELY missing the point of a TRUE artist.
A real artist doesnt care if someones using their design, Its ART, its suppose to reach people, and make them think!!!
    –end quote–
which is true. Everyone knows the aim of a true artist is to die in poverty and anonymity.

  159. on 19 Apr 2010 at 4:16 pm Johnny Trash

Wow you guys at Rebel8 seem to be missing the point of being an artist! dieter brummer is right, art is about reaching people not about making money.

copydoggz Says this is the best press Rebel8 will ever get…well I hope not for their sake because this makes them look very petty and also makes them look like they’re all about the money!

Personally I won’t be buying either cos they’re both shite.

what proof is there that Rebel8 didn’t copy Shiroi Neko???

Last but not least…If you have a problem with Shiroi Neko stealing your designs and have proof they’re originally yours then take action rather than crying about it.

  160. on 29 Apr 2010 at 8:48 pm LW

I agree with Johnny Trash. This makes Rebel 8 look bad!

If you’re going to make accusations about people steeling your designs and breaching copyright then do something about it. Back it up with action. If you don’t then it looks like you can’t back up what you’re saying. Best to say nothing in that case.

All this post does is give more press to one of your rivals.

“Good Artists Borrow, Great Artists Steal”
    Pablo Picasso

  162. on 02 May 2010 at 6:53 am Goober

Johnny Trash: Dieter was quoting someone else and replying with obvious sarcasm, you dimwitted twat. Rebel8 is a clothing company, not some cliched artist who is happy to be poor just so long as his work is “reaching people.” Drawing/painting/etc/etc is a profession, and one is right to command payment for it. Choosing an “artistic” career is not choosing a priest-like life of no money or worldly goods and living like a romantic character from a TV-movie. It’s a profession like any other, no different than carpentry or plumbing.

  163. on 03 May 2010 at 10:24 pm Miranda

Shiroineko is NOT Japanese. They say they are to cash in on the anime fans and to look less likely to be art-thiefs since most anime fans expect the art to come from Japan.

But the company is actually NOT Japanese, just thieves faking it all out.

  164. on 07 May 2010 at 4:55 pm DO NOT BUY SHIROI NEKO

this brand is scam………..dont buy it!!!

they rip off ed hardy & chritian audigier. it is sold on market stools all over the place. you can buy it on e bay for £5 it is truly cheap cheap rubbish DO NOT BUY IT.

any shop that buys it doesnt have a clue about the fashion industry and is ripping you off!!!!

  165. on 07 May 2010 at 5:05 pm andy

i agree. anyone that sells this in their shop probably sells fakes. dont trust anyone who sell this stay well clear.

  166. on 15 May 2010 at 9:59 pm james

Huh? Ed Hardy never stole anything from Sailor Jerry! Sailor Jerry taught Ed Hardy how to tattoo.

  167. on 17 May 2010 at 4:51 am Crap on eBay

Remember that ripping off copyrighted designs and from copyrighted books is a crime… You may think that it is ok as you have not been caught yet.

There will be some action and the evidence is clean and clear.

Looking at the crap reminds me of asscrack and puke.

  168. on 30 May 2010 at 7:18 pm Goober

I’m a douche…put that on a t-shirt. Nobody would rip you off and copy that. I’d wear it cos I am a douche.

  169. on 02 Jun 2010 at 9:22 pm GCC

Shiroi Neko STEALS DESIGNS. THEY STOLE A BUNCH OF OURS AND EVEN KEPT OUR LOGO ON “THEIR” DESIGNS.

NOW THAT THEY ARE SELLING IN EUROPE THERE WILL BE LEGAL ACTION.

BUT TO BE HONEST THIS IS NOT THE WORST WE HAVE EXPEREINCED.

DUSTY OUT OF HONG KONG JACKED ONE OF OUR “DESIGNS” ACTUALLY IT WAS A PICTURE OF ONE OF THE OWNERS AND DESIGERS HERE WEARING A BELECLAVA IN ONE OF OUR FALL CATALOGS…. THEY DESCIDED TO PUT THAT PICUTRE THAT HE TOOK OF HIMSELF ON A TEE ONLY ADDING THEIR BRAND NAME AND DOING NOTHING MORE TO THE IMAGE.

    WOW….

ANY HOW OUR LAWYERS WILL TALK TO YOUR LAWYERS… AND MOSTLY LIKELY THOSE POSTING PRO-Shiroi Neko POST WILL EAT THEIR WORDS SINCE IT’S MOST LIKELY Shiroi Neko PEEPS POSTING THESE COMMENTS.

  170. on 10 Jun 2010 at 12:25 pm both of these s**k

both brands suck.@ least shiroi neko stole ur designs and made them way better.u should thank them

  171. on 20 Jun 2010 at 5:24 pm Simon-Rawhand

Maybe some parts of the design is coppied but they advanced it very much! It looks better and the price is good.

  172. on 07 Jul 2010 at 11:52 am vince ray

They nick my designs too and I’m after their balls. As regards piracy being cool…I have to contact my customers who think I’ve given away the design that they paid for, its a pain in the ass. Yep, they do look good, the designs are well put together and I can’t blame people for wanting to buy them at a good price.
Most t shirt makers come to an artist and agree a fee or agreement to produce products. Its easier, safer and cooler than stealing stuff. Piracy is stealing, and if you think it’s cool, I’m happy to call around your house and steal your wallet.

  173. on 17 Jul 2010 at 5:09 pm Skull Star

Hey, I must say That I am a shiroi neko fan, as well as some other such as emperor eternity, and more.
In fact I prefer there designs more than some of the originals I have seen, and now days everybody is influenced by someone else. It’s simple You can copyright a design, but any one can take it and alter it slightly for it to be a whole new design, Which is what they do.I think legally its 5- 7 things.
Unless you own a Trademark on a certain designs, copyright can only go so far, Then there is the thing of different countries have differnt laws, regarding copyright infringements. It’s a very hard case to fight in court, but if you have money go for it.
I am a custom tattoo design artist, and have many influences of styles, at the end of the day we are all inspired by something, but If my customers don’t want their custom designs used, I don’t post them online for the world to see. I get give them the choice to sign a release form to use the custom design for my promotional purposes.

Sure Im pissed If I see someone stole my work, But once its online, anyone can steal it in different parts of the world.

I think thats Shiroi neko are queit smart with their designs.

  174. on 03 Aug 2010 at 11:35 am fi

I can’t believe the attitudes of some of the people commenting here… Clearly you are people who have never had your own work stolen like this, so you don’t know how awful it is.

YES the themes of all these tattoo/custom culture style clothing are repetitive as hell.

NO that does NOT bloody make it okay to take an image that someone created with their own brain, skill, time and hands, change minor things, and call it your own.

It’s like this, imagine an author writes about certain themes (eg, teenage wizards, or vampire romance, etc). These themes have been used before, they’ve become cliched. Now imagine the author takes the whole Harry Potter series, but adds some extra stuff, and changes Harry’s name to Glen (or adds heaps of trashy gold foil print…). Even if you like the new book more, the plagiarist is still a worthless, thieving loser who is taking credit for someone else’s hard work.
Get it through your heads you pack of idiots.
