Levi’s Footwear

Red tabbed culprits:

Converse Chuck Taylors and Vans Authentics are two of the most frequently copied shoe silhouettes, so that wasn’t much of a surprise. But the Supra Skytop rip caught me off guard. [via SoleBlvd & TGL]

i would normally say “BIG DEAL happens all the time”
but these rips are actually ridiculous..
Other companies atleast try to make small differentiations from the originals,
but levi’s is outright stealing shoe models.

ya know, this is so close that i cant really believe its a rip off as it seems. i kinda think that the case could be that levi’s is having vans do the actual making of thier shoes, and they slap on the red tag afterwords. while there’s some minor differences in the chuck taylors (they look like youre average no name knock offs) the other ones are exact. i think theyre just getting the shoes from vans.
http://youthoughtwewouldntnotice.com/blog3/?p=1867 thats one thing, ripping off a smaller artist. but i dont think that levi’s could actaully ever think they could get away with biting of this caliber from such big guys as vans

Stuff like this wouldn’t happen if people didn’t wear stupid shoes.

hmmmm… #2 and #3 are ripped from Supra, so it’s not only Vans they’re stealing from. These are too obvious, I smell a law suit on the way…

Ugh I heart my Supra’s so much, I can’t believe people are making such ugly rips. I saw a pair of Nike’s with the same Supra Skytop design at the airport yesterday, I thought they were Supras [which I was wearing at the same time] until I saw the Nike logo.

I have to think that they made a deal with these companies. Levis pays a huge amount of attention to details and sues any company that not only gets close to the pocket stitch but puts ANY tab on the back pocket. for them to turn around and make carbon copies of one of the biggest shoe companies out there just seems absurd.

Why would a company known for such amazing jeans that has been around for years try and make shoes that look like Vans and converse. It seems odd. The corporate wheel must be spinning and everyone is just trying to get piece of the market. GREED.. What they don’t get is that customers are getting smarter and smarter. Vans customers are going to see those shoes and just laugh. What would have been cool is if Levis created a new shoe concept and put out a amazing shoe line. These big companies have no heart left. It is all about making money and not be true and original. KINDA sad. I use to be a big fan of Levis but now they seem lame. Even if they did do a private label program with Vans, it just doesn’t work.

Are you serious? This whole thing is absurd over time every major brand is copied in some way and sometimes out right. That does not make it right but many times through these copies come innovation and a new product. Which in turn is copied and often becomes another product. Copy right law is a slippery thing to tackle. I believe the designer or company owns the rights to make a particular product and what levi did was wrong and greedy but if they had taken the base and redesigned in someway with a similar look I wouldn’t be so fussy. Straight copying for profit is wrong.

This is crazy. Our industry is under attack. And we are losing the battle.

This is beyond copycat. Too bad nothing can be done!
