UPDATE 3 On I side note, one of the recent claims of Omar is that he sent his drawings for a revision to DibujArte S3 Maganize and that was the moment when Tozani steals them, what he doesn’t realize is that those drawing exists before the release of that magazine, the following drawing is the cover of the book included in the No. 1 edition:
The section where the magazine offers help to readers by sending their drawings to be checked starts in the No. 15.

UPDATE 2 I don’t know how the lawsuit end (or if it progress) but A. Omar Gonzáles A. keeps harassing Tozani through the blog of his deviantART profile claiming he steals his works and attacking all his co-workers who aren’t related to this madness. He can’t answer about Artgerm, elpinoy and Gattadonna and just avoid the subject.

UPDATE Both blogs (ZAnimeStyle and Pseudoscketcher’s Note) were banned from blogger and Omar was demanded, so I’m sure this story will have a happy end 
In the last posts of Pseudoscketcher’s Note he was attacking EdWheeler, Tozani, Magolobo, Belmont and me (He got angry because I was just ignoring him and making jokes

Hello, this is my first post here…
Sometime ago a dude called Omar González subscribed to deviantART, his gallery was full of ripp off of other illustrations by famous artist like Artgerm, Tozani, elpinoy, etc. Not only he doesn’t admit the rip off, he invented stories for every work like in what he inspires, the process, the refference (photos of his friends wtf?), etc. like he REALLY did ALL the process.
Obviously he was reported and the admins close his account rapidly, but this guy claims that the reason of why this happens is because “I’m (he lol) a better artist and they are jelous because I refine their works”.
This guy open a blog just to yells about the artist that reported him, I’m sorry, it’s in spanish, but he said that those artist are just posers and that they copy and rip off works (just insults, he doesn’t show any solid evidence of what he said), and that THEY stole him (just check the dates, and the original artists have WIP scketches of the works).
Well, here’s his “work” (“copia” means copy in spanish, I’m sorry is in spanish because I used them for a similar article in a blog in spanish):

Wanna know what is the worst part? The price for a comission can be from 250 pesos (25 dlls) to 1500 (150 dlls). I read how someone ask him for a Simpsons style drawing and he said that it was 480 pesos (48 dlls). Everyone knows that you can sell something like that because the Simpsons style are copyrighted, EdWheeler does Simpsons comissions for free because of that!
He have a new dA account, but he hasn’t submit anything because to “avoid problems with those jealousy people who like to impede the growth of other”.
If you are an artist, I recomend you to visit his blog because maybe you find a pic of yours ripped off…. Share this article if it’s possible please.

Dear god, that’s awful. What a jerk… I feel bad for all the artists he’s blatantly plagiarized.
The weird thing is that he’s not tracing the original pic or making an exact copy, but he redraws it in his own style, sometimes changing little things. He’s not completely without skills, so why not use photo’s to create your own drawing? I don’t understand people like him…..

Just a correction: You can’t copyright a style of drawing. The actual characters themselves are probably Trademarked though, so if you drew something that looked similar to an existing character then The Simpsons’ copyright holder could probably put together a case against you. (And with a cast as big as that of The Simpsons, it probably wouldn’t be too hard for them.) Someone can correct me if I’m wrong on that last part, but I know for a fact that you can’t copyright a “style” of drawing.
It’s times like this where I wish I understood Spanish.
The thing is, the guy’s obviously talented. Why he doesn’t do his own work is beyond me. Why waste your time copying other people’s work and presenting it as your own?

Just came across this one.
Some of his drawings are really lovely – and, as has been pointed out already, clearly aren’t just tracings.
I hope he has a think and starts to think up his own ideas – and not sell or profit from copies but call them reinterpretations and ask the original artists permission to keep using them in his folio.
He is hardly an artist. More like a craftsmen. Artists create with ideas. Replicating something else with a skill is just a craft.

none of these copies are even good. all he does is change the dimensions and add anime eyes. It makes it so much worse that the guy doesn’t even have talent.
Maaike: FWIW, if you copy a photograph too closely, that is also copyright infringement, and you can be sued by the photographer.

Now this one definitely is a rip-off. What a shame that that illustrator can’t come up with his own ideas. He’s kind of pathetic, I’d have to say.
In addition to what JTorch wrote, I’m not sure if a “style” can be copyrighted, but Matt Groening did something great, he dind’t just copyrighted the Simpsons characters, but the WHOLE Simpsons world, so basically, anything drawn that looks like a Simpson even if it’s you, the character belongs to them (Matt and Bongo comics), even if you drew it or someone else did it, you can’t sell it, instead, they (Matt and Bongo comics) can use it on their comics without even asking for permission or giving any credit or moneys.

Aw. That’s so weird and sad.
I used to take other’s illos and try and draw the pose/scene in a different style, it was great practice and good fun. But I knew and understood the finished work was never really ‘mine’. If you use that to get better you need to show your work beside the inspiration. It’s the only decent way of doing it.
Dude needs to go to some live model sessions and draw them. Or go sit on a park bench and be inspired by those poses. Carry a cheap camera (camera phone around) and grab poses on the street. Or if they aren’t mobile, watch some movies and screen capture. Or go dig around in national archives for photos that have lost their copyright of need be.
Guy is a douchebag, plain and simple. Also the original artwork he stole is great, while his is “meh”.
Maybe thats why, he’s so angry.

well as far as taking just the pose no i do not think it is theft because official manga and anime artist use other peoples poses but this guy took more then poses he took actual stuff the caricatures are wearing so yes definitely this guy is a thief
