Nike Plus site gets ripped

YTWWN: There is some style references here but not enough to say they plagiarized the site

Probably not a good idea to rip off one of the most recognizable brands in the world.

The original:

Another screen from the original:

And here is the rip-off

Notice the similar colors, design elements, layout – even the “expanding” functionality of the bottom pods is the same.

I believe the original Nike Plus site was done by R/GA and the rip-off was done by Venture Media Group. Maybe they realized that their plagiarism was a little too blatant because the Dot Fit site has been changed, though some similar design elements and colors remain.

if the VM site wasn’t a fitness site you probably wouldn’t of noticed. Pretty poor form, stealing from an industry leader.

While similar, Dotfit is using an html/css design with some flash elements and Nike is a wholly flash site.

dotfit has already retooled their site to not look like Nike’s.

I don’t think this was an intentional rip or even a rip at all really, but they did change the site once they realized the similarity.

Not intentional? It’s nearly identical? Can’t anyone come up with their own look and feel.

LOL, the nike site is a rip of apple.com, just in red.

As someone who works in the web industry, I think you may also have to consider if the client asked for their site to be similar as they liked the look and feel of Nike. Clients can be difficult to deal with when they wont budge on an concept or design. But at least the website has be now modified so it is not a copy.
