But of course they are both just ripping off Damien Hirst, so what’s the point? Shame on The Boys Noize for not picking a better artist to rip off.

Of course the irony is that some claim that Damien Hirst ripped off this idea, arguably his most famous, from an old friend of his: http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/visual_arts/article1991133.ece

i wouldnt say that either ripped the other, its a common concept seen all too often. people have been embelishing human skulls for some time…

Who are you claiming is ripping who?

No rip here. “Disco ball skull” is an idea, and you can’t copyright an idea. I see two different expressions of that idea here.

Yeah, but it’s all the same shitty expression. I’d give it to the band, because it goes perfectly with their music.

Disco ball skulls and crystal ball skulls are a common novelty item that is sold.

To photograph it against a black background and put white font in the corner is something that is so easy to think of I’m surprised you put it on.

    Greatest “Remixes” indeed

I was wondering when i would see this.. Well, general opinion is that Boys Noize (in case you don’t know, a recently succecfull electronica artist) had the skull before damien hirst, and Good Charlotte, normaly a emo/punk/rock band, used the Skull likeness and hype surrounding boys noize to promote thier ‘greatest remix’ album, where the tracks are remixed in an electro sense. OK, disco skull is not the newest thing on the face of the earth, but to be used in this sense is. Douche bag move from good charlotte.
