change of heart

You may remember this earlier post about Volcom ripping off a rad New York label – Verte

and you might even remember when we caught out volcom staff posting on this site saying its a quincidence.
Well Volcom have a new look to their environmentally friendly save the world from climate change sales pitch clothing
called V.co.logical

Looks like volcom changed their mind
Let’s hope organic cotton saves the world.

and when the volcom designers fly around the would on their research trips, let’s hope they eat from recycled take away containers.
what a bunch of fucking idiots. good riddance to shitty design.
man, that diamond shaped recycle logo is shitty. they could have done better
looks like they had to relate the logo back to volcom in some way. looks like the shape of a volcom diamond.
hmmmmm.. a little close to this BBDO work:

When you do logo/identity work, it’s incredibly common to look for graphical elements to “grow” out of twists and turns and shapes found in your originating typeface. Yes, what you have here is the same typeface but ultimately yielding different graphic solutions. I vote coincidence.
The two original logos (verde/verte) look sort of similar at first glance, but if you really look, they aren’t that much alike. I could absolutely believe this was a conincidence
In keeping with giving benefit of the doubt, this looks like it could be a coincidence to me, too. And the company’s subsequent re-branding attests to the pressure they felt to change the logo… it doesn’t speak to whether this was actually a creative theft. Pressure and embarrassment work the same, whether the charges are true or not.
Oh goody so they gave up on possibly copying from some other company to steal another idea from another company. I hope the garbage industry get some kickback for the slighty removed recycle image.
I remember in 80s when the no ghost symbol created by Dan Akroyd for ghostbusters came out and everybody jumped on it and created parodies and all that, I wonder if that was plagerism? or Graphicism or what you call it?
Anyway, logos suck. Don’t adevrtise for slothing companies unless you get paid. I mean if you really like the message they are sending (who knows what that is with clothing companies) then okay but but it;s not like bands who write lyrics and say something real and passionate.
Organic clothing is a great new fashion industry open and welcome to these kind of amazing branding ideas. As organic cotton, bamboo clothing, and just organic clothing in general moves into the popular fashion scene I really hope more companies pay attention to great design. Our goal at Jonano has always been to combine good design with eco-friendly values. Our website Jonano Organic Clothing is an example of that.
This is all such bullshit. The VERTE people are biters as well, check out their stuff, fuck ‘em. And screw all this, there is no more originality anywhere, look around! Fresh new twists are all we have to look forward to so let’s just accept it.
no stealing here, they are similar. But isnt the helvetica all similar, in first place?
then you are a designer and use to collect and look to as many pieces as you can to estimulate your ideas. then you have just a case where you remember that using a turning extention in a helvetica looks beautiful, and you do it.
It is not a copy, not a traying to be equal, not even getting the other’s work and claiming it yours.
it is the same style, thats it.
Maybe the twisted “e” at the end is also used in some other logo. then this one is a mix of the two things. And to use one letter in different color is just like the “believe” thing from Britney.
Everything is related, it is impossible to be 100% original.
