Found this bottle of Mr. Gouda’s Ginger Beer a few years ago. I ended up buying it because I was convinced that the image used for the man drumming was actually Lionel Richie minus the mustache. Sure enough it seems like they definitely ripped off an illustration of Mr. Richie. The dead giveaway is the same hairline…

this isn’t a ripoff, it is artistic political commentary and thus completely legitimate. note how the inclusion of the afro-mullet is in direct opposition to the exclusion of the moustache. this is an obvious commentary on the difference in political climate between the u.s. and jamaica. also note the addition of oversize ‘neckerchief’ and faux-argyle print t-shirt. these are incorporated into the design to comment on the class differences between those who drink the beverage and those who wouldn’t as they are likely to be in the social class that mr. richie associates with. and finally their is a subtle (and somewhat humorous) comment on mr. richie’s musical output displayed in the fact that our ‘ginger beer party mon’ is playing his drum ‘unevenly’ with one hand and one stick…they seem to be saying that mr. richie’s ouvre is, perhaps, ‘uneven’? bravo to the artist, i say!
