UNIF copied (AGAIN) by Division E (this time)
July 6th, 2009 by UNIF
Today I received a bunch of emails claiming there is a graphic top by Division E being sold on 80spurple.com (whom I don’t blame, they’re a great site, they actually had our Blase’ version at one point), that looks very similar to one our most popular graphics of last Fall (which is still being sold on our unifclothing.com online store). This is annoying to say the least.

Yes, it’s almost the same, but they clearly used a different photo and I don’t find the idea outright unique. On a professionally produced T-shirt, it would be good to spell blasé correctly; the last letter is an E with an acute accent, not an apostrophe.
haaaaa grilled
but they’re both so ugly, who cares?
can’t you tell it’s misspelled on purpos. even i can see that i don’t know ibonics. Yes they used a different photo but the point is they knocked off the concept on purpose. even though it’s “ugly” (someone’s personal opinion that doesn’t really matter) it’s still knocked off by people who sell to the same retailer. That’s how you know it’s a legitimate knockoff. People on here try to be critical of the design when the point is who’s copying who. MORONS!
can u spell purpose correctly next time
Oh yes Division E. Well known for pulling that crap. People that wear their stuff don’t know fashion. If you look at their stuff it’s basically a bunch of stuff knocked off from other companies trends. WEAK!
my opinion totally matters. that shit is whack.
they are both shit.
damn I’m such a moron, my first comment was wrong. I totally apologize to everyone esp UNIF since I start my internship at UNIF next week. They spelled it that way cause they were being all BLASE’ about it. With that said, I’m going to be the in-house grammar police, such a great uniform and I get my own pen. By the way this is really me…
does anybody who posts stuff here know anything about copyright?
This isn’t a copy.
…or is it not really about that? everybody thinks their own ideas are just so precious and unique and original…
I think I’ve read through 3 pages of this website and while some of the posts have genuine complaints of being “copied”, most of them are posted by whiney little crybabies. It’s really unprofessional for people representing businesses to make accusations that only prove that they have no idea what their rights are or that they’re limited.
if you’re putting product out for sale in the marketplace, ALL you can really afford to care about in these cases is whether what’s being done is legal. Who had the idea first is irrelevant (and I’d bet my life that yours isn’t the first photo of a girl with mascara running down her cheeks). You can’t waste your energy worrying about what your competition is doing except for the rare occasions where your copyrights/trademarks are being violated. This is not one of those times.
I agree, I do, however in this case they saw it for sale on 80spurple.com, obviously copied it, then shipped it to 80spurple.com to sell on consignment. It’s just frustrating.
