Another Threadless rip-off
July 14th, 2007 by jaff
Copying Thredless design for flyers became a normal thing, so here’s another example.

Camera Club is a location in Vienna (Austria). Here’s is link to this event -> http://www.szene1.at/wien/event-69619.html
And here’s the original thredless design (Who I Am)

the threadless design is an Illustrator trace of the japanese musician miyavi… while it takes some ability to trace I really wouldn’t call the theft of a theft a shame.
Wow, you’re right. Tracing someone’s face must be a theft. That means we can copy the Mona Lisa because that damned bastard artist went and stole her face!
You’re probably dumb enough to believe photos steal your soul as well.
Chris, you should really try to not be such a complete asshole to people who point out valid things, just because they undermine your empathy with this guy who had his stuff stolen.
What ‘e’ means is that the ‘original’ was not wholly original, as the artist had just traced someones face to make the core piece of the design, instead of drawing it from scratch, which he supposedly did with the rest of the design.
Horrible, horrible rip off, but it’s only for a flier, it could be a lot worse.
Keep that camera away from me
My real complaint about the threadless design isn’t the fact that’s traced from a photo, but rather the ‘me too!’ swirlie designs that I see EVERYWHERE. Points off to whoever did the shirt for being a clone.
NOTHING is wholly original.
If i take a picture of downtown, am i stealing from architects?
If i paint someone’s face, am i stealing the art from God?
Is taking one thing (photograph) and making from it something new (illustrator trace) not the same?
Why would anyone want to rip that design off? it’s shite anyway!
