Alannah Hill claims to be a fashion designer who creates own fashion goods inspired by the world around her.  Turns out a little bit of her ‘inspiration’ comes from a Japanese brand called Emily Temple Cute.  Emily Temple Cute designs many of their own prints for their dresses.

Alannah Hill versions above, Emily Temple Cute Below

As you can see from the last one, the print is exactly the same, the print was originally designed by Emily Temple Cute for Emily Temple Cute.

Come on Australia, I thought you could do better than this.

Nonn of these are really that origonal, idea wise, but they are way to close to be a coincidence.

Haha this sorta thing is funny, Trelise Cooper just got busted doing the same thing at NZ fashion week with a topshop top (but of course who knows who the original supplier is!?).

I think it’s funny how people think these ‘designers’ have 100% original designs etc when a lot of people including myself who have worked for them know they pick half of them from some tacky asian catalogue of pieces knocked off from other designers work or get their other designers to replicate what’s in the latest vogue to the best of their abilities.

Yeah, with clothing it is always difficult to tell. Everything is a knock-off of everything else, it’s hard to trace it back to an original designer, especially something as simple as these dresses and the cardigan. They’re plain enough that it COULD be a coincidence, but since they’re at least three examples I would say it’s definitely a rip-off. Good luck doing anything with that information though, as I believe only patters can even be copyrighted, not the actual pieces. (Correct me if I’m wrong)

I hope Emily Temple Cute does something about it. How horrible.

Alot of AH stuff like the accessories especially are mostly bought from korea, changed to AH label tags and they mark up their prices like 20 times. I have seen countless identical items ranging from bags, belts, hair clip, headbands, jewellery etc

I’ve just looked all over the Allanah Hill website and there is nothing like these clothes on there?? They don’t really look like her style that much anyway? I’m not a fan of hers but these shots could have been taken anywhere. Could this have just been a dig at her?

The top image was taken in her shop by a girl who owns the original dress, the cardigan is taken from an online album of Alannah Hill’s clothes, and the bottom picture is taken by a girl who bought the dress but is also a fan of ETC so noticed the similarities. These clothes are very much her style.

Alannah Hill Doesn’t post a catalog of her clothes on the site which would explain why you can’t find pictures. Fans do collect images of her clothes from each season, shots of the clothes can be found there if you care to look:

Can you please remove my photo, it’s the black cardigan tagged with Krystal. The photos in the above photo album are taken to share with other AH fans, the fact they are tagged with the photo owners name makes it pretty clear we don’t want our photos used without our permission.
    Thank you.

I hate Alannah Hill – walks around dressing like she’s 15. Just like most fashion ‘designers’…she’s a rip off copier – not a designer!

I’ve seen sweaters like that at Forever21.

Thats not the only dress i’ve seen in Alannah Hill that is very similar (almost identical) to a dress by another designer. I can recall 3 off the top of my head. There is a silk chiffon dress, full length with folded ribbon haulter straps that is to me identical to a marc jacob dress. There is also a white knit skirt that is very similar to a sabitini (?) skirt. There is also a dress from her last year summer collection that looked vintage that is similar to something worn by Blair on Gossip Girl season 1. Thats just to name a few.

To be fair, the sweater is a knockoff of Elsa Schiaparelli’s “Bow Sweater” from 1927. So you’re both copying that one.

    Sorry, “Bow-Knot Sweater”.

que descaro de esta mujer, el plagio deve ser fuertemente castigado por la ley… >: (

¡¡¡ no merese tener la posicion en la que esta!!

que falta de honor de esta persona…

  15. [...] the first time they’ve dabbled in copyright theft either: I’ve just found out that some Alannah Hill dresses are copied from indie designers too! After hearing all of this news, I’m not so bitter that the label won’t extend [...]

Have noticed a lot of designers doing this… not quite as blatantly as this, but I have noticed.
There is something not quite right about calling yourself a designer & doing this… she’s basically a buyer for K-Mart.

Wow art thieves really suck! When they steal toilet paper and paper towels from their work like Kathy Awiszus from Gillette Wy does

is it really a crime to steal work as hideous as this? isn’t the fact that AH wears this shit enough punishment?

I’m an Australian, and registered purely to respond to this post. Firstly, I have no doubt that this is a rip, and shame on Alannah Hill for doing it. But that’s not what I’m posting to address.

I’d just like to point out, that while Alannah Hill may be Australian, she isn’t actually Australia, and our country as a whole can hardly be held responsible for her actions. Believe me when I tell you that she makes a lot of us cringe. So it’s a bit harsh to say “Come on Australia, I thought you could do better than this.” The majority of posts on this site seem to come from America. Should somebody be saying “Oh, come on America, I thought you could do better than this…”?

No, because that would be a stupid thing to say, wouldn’t it.
