Pop this cherry

After reading this blog i became quite curious to see if any of my work had been stolen/altered etc. After spending a couple of minutes with google I found out that an image of mine is being used on a tshirt. After looking through their catalogue I also noticed some Kidrobot works there.

from http://cherrystore.blogspot.com/ in 2 colour ways!

why don’t you DMCA them? This, literally, is exactly what it’s for.

And if you have registered your (c), sue the fuck out of them.

yeah, sue someone for ripping off your rip off

I really wouldn’t consider his a rip off Fugg. It would fall under the “parody” category. The KFC logo probably is copyrighted, but if he removes that then there is no ripping off done by the original artist.

I don’t get either one, but that is just me.

I have to say that while it might be a parody, the fact still remains that he left in the logo which, let’s be realistic here, is more than likely copywrited. There by making it a rip of a rip. Take off the logo and than we might have a different story.

Ah yes, putting Hitler’s face on something. Revolutionary.

i would wear neither so i dont really care. both are poor designs and im not even taking into account the lame “parody” aspect of it being hitler within a KFC logo. If cherry store can make money off a poorly conceived concept and design…more power to them.

This isn’t about if the art sucks or not. It’s about if it’s stolen or not.

The original poster doesn’t say he was using the art to make money off of it. Maybe he made it for kicks. I don’t think KFC would even have a case if that were the situation.

The problem is that it was his art, someone stole it, wisely replaced the KFC logo. Clearly, if you disregard the logo and subject matter this would all be a straight rip and no one would be arguing the fact.

you can also tell the ripper just wound up the contrast. Lead to all the lines being blobby. too easy with all the “upload your image” t shirt sites

this piece was done for university as an anti advert campaign (just a postcard), it wasnt made to make profit from in anyway.

as some have stated it dosnt change the fact that someone is using my work to earn a buck, at the end of the day that’s all this site is about.

    thanks for the advice.

r.goodwin if you could email me it would be great to see some amazing conceptual design works of yours.

yes, probably a rip-off but either way both are offensive without even a proper statement or anything.

This type of work does not belong on a shirt, postcard or anything for that matter. It’s a shame it’s even been done at all.
