Dripper ripper.

GirlsLoveDJs is party organisation and clothing company from Amsterdam. In our 2008 collection we had a shirt as well as a sweater with the same design called the ‘All Drips’ or ‘Dripper’ pictured below.

Last August, Pharrel Williams’ (of N.E.R.D.) clothing line Billionaire Boys Club came out with the I.C. (Ice Cream) drip T-shirt (scroll down 3/4 to view shirts), which is quite similar.

If you look closely to the comparison on exhibit A. you’ll see that Pharell probably cut up our shirt, took the sample and just looped it into a whole new design. He did add some effects but somehow didn’t manage to make a better product out of it, come on Pharrell you can do better than that!

Pharrell hasn’t commented on his alleged clothing sampling and looping yet, but we’ll keep you posted if he does.

    Uhm, no.

If you look closely to the comparison on exhibit A, you’ll see that Pharell did not even remotely “sample” or “loop” your artwork at all—the two drips are absolutely nothing alike.

Your shirt is way cooler, and done much better. The Ice Cream shirt is weak, with no variety in the drips. Assuming he saw your shirt and didn’t just come up with the same idea (which is possible), then he ripped your idea but not your artwork.

Chill out, everyone knows Pharell sucks already. I doubt he PERSONALLY designed that shirt graphic. Needless to say- BBC is lame, but is your “original” shirt graphic… do some research on KR and KRink….. Clichés all day up in here!

The part you circled does not even look the same as the one on the BBC shirt. I think yours is styled better but it is not an original idea.

  4. on 15 Dec 2009 at 2:31 am Yeah ok

    Neither is original sorry.

Drips… I mean seriously.. Didn’t everyone get over drips about five years ago?

Whta? What what? Drips? I can’t see the problem here. Do people really think they are so original that every idea they have is unique? Woohoo!

Five years? This is eighties kitsch at best.

Whaddayer mean 80s? Wasn’t Roy Lichtenstein more 60s?
Disclaimer: I drew drips in red Marks-a-lot on a white T in 8th grade after seeing shirts like these (more like Pharell’s) in Newbury Comics. SO no, not dreadfully original.

    Yeah…. no. Not even close.

The two drips you circled do not look a like, except for the fact that they are both drips. That’s the only similarity.

Billionaire Boys Club – all their stuff is ice-cream themed. Definitely not a rip, just coincidence. Plus, I’m pretty sure people have made drip shirts before?

Yeah, the first design looks better, but neither are original, and I think you’re flattering yourself to think it’s a looped design of yours — it’s pretty obvious that it isn’t.

Both suck and are obvious, who cares

  14. on 21 Feb 2010 at 9:42 am Overused idea.

That is NOT a rip off. You don’t OWN the idea of a dripping shirt. It has been done plenty of times before you “invented” the concept.
