I would say if one company designed a seat from the ground up, and chose a very distinctive material(that isn’t normal in bicycles) and another company, that sells the same style product, almost replicates it?
seems like a rip to me.
Similar stlyes of course cause they’re both bike seats, but the only really individual feature that you could base a rip on is the ‘p’ brand bit and hasn’t been copied, they’ve just used the same fake gator skin fabric – you can’t base a rip on that at all, maybe inspired but who cares, there’s nothing wrong with such subtle inspiration, imitation gator skin isn’t uncommon, this is just silly. I have no idea why the rating isn’t 1?!
really? is probably citing the cases of the early nineteenth century when Levis sued any company that also thought to use denim for pants. History is fun.
I _am_ relived, stumbling over this site today and seeing all those supposed rip off’s just to see that almost all of them are barely similar. I was going to scream fascist at all of you, but the comments suggest there are still some sanity in the world.
I admit it. We are so artistically bankrupt that we ordered an existing gator skin seat cover material from our seat supplier soley because Odyssey made a Junior seat like this three years ago. Never mind that that seat supplier makes seats for about 50 different bike companies world wide. Never mind that Profile is based in Florida, where lots of alligators live. Never mind that Odyssey doesn’t make the saddle any longer.

Nah, not buying it. Using a similar material doesn’t mean it’s a rip.
